In this tutorial you will learn how to use the Align Tool. If you want to have a shape be centered in a different shape, when you want a shape to be on top or to the side of a shape, the align tool is perfect for you.
- When you select two or more shapes you can either click the align tool (see icon below) in the top right of the workspace or press “L” to open the align tool.
- After you select the align tool, three lines with dots will appear - one on the x axis, one on the y axis and one on the z axis.
- You align the shapes by clicking one of the circles on the lines. The circle in the middle will align the shapes in the middle of that axis. This is the most common use of the align tool.
- You can also select more than two shapes and all align them together, this is useful if you are making something where all the parts should be aligned in the center, like a chess piece.
- The circles on the end of the line will align the shapes at that edge of the axis. So if you click the top circle for the z axis, the top of the two shapes will be at the height of the taller shape.
