Safety

What is auto focus and why is it important?
A: Machine will check material thickness and adjust its lens. The lens focuses the laser to a fine point on the material.

What are vents? Why are they important? Do both need to be turned on? Where are they located?
A: Vents exhaust smoke produced from the job to the exterior of the building.
A: Both vents need to be turned on
A: They are located next to the Glowforge, except for the blue classroom, where the second vent is a little to the right
‣
What are the potential dangers of using warped material?
A: Focus will be inconsistent across material.

How do you avoid accidents/ fires with the Glowforge?

A: Turn on vents

A: Make sure lenses are clean

A: Do not touch the head or arm of the Glowforge while the power is on

A: Caution glass!

A: Never put anything on machine and never put anything inside of machine you don't intend on cutting.

A: Do not stack materials

A: inspect bed for build up of small materials

A: Never leave the Glowforge unattended while operating

What do you in case of a fire?

A: Hit the stop button next to the Glowforge

A: If it is safe to do so, use fire blanket (it is not your job to put out a fire)

A: if fire is larger then you can extinguish head to the nearest exit and pull the fire alarm. Calmly follow evacuation protocol and exit the building

Demonstrate where the emergency stop button is
Demonstrate where the fire blanket is
Create a file with Cut, Engraving and Scoring
Export file in correct format
Turn on Glowforge using Fabman
Open Glowforge App
Add Material
Set up file on material
Turn on Fans
Start Job
Demonstrate How to clean lens
