This is one of many tutorials to design objects on TinkerCad for the Cardboard Architects Launch Lab. The focus is creating input mechanisms, playfield geometry, and scoring objectives. The competency focus is STEAM Agency.

Step 1: Back Board

  1. Add a cube and flatten it out
    1. it should be 2.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches long
    2. Make the height 1/4 of an inch

  1. Add another cube
  2. Flatten this one so it is 1/4 of an inch tall
  3. Copy it by pressing “control C” then “control V” on your keyboard or pressing this symbol on your screen:

  5. Make one of these small squares into a hole by clicking on it and then the hole button

  7. Click on the hole and rotate it 90 degrees using the curved arrows
  8. image
  9. Select both the backboard and your hole by clicking and dragging a selection box around it
  10. Use the Align tool to center it (press L)

  12. Then combine using the union button

Part 2: Hoop

  1. Add the shape that looks like a rounded ring (named Torus)
  2. Resize it so it is large
  3. Change the tube size
    1. click on the ring
    2. click on the arrow next to the hole button
    3. change the Tube size to 0.05

  1. Move your new ring to the smaller cube. Make sure it is full inside one another
  2. Select both pieces
  3. Combine using the union button
